Files and statistics

File list

Once you’ve opened files, they’ll appear as tabs at the bottom of the map. You can reorder them by dragging the tabs. When many files are open, you can scroll horizontally through the list.

File selection

Tap or click on a tab to switch between files, view their statistics, and apply edit actions and tools to them.

On the website: Hold Ctrl/Cmd to add files to the selection or remove them, or hold Shift to select a range of files.

Most edit actions and tools can be applied to multiple files at once.

Edit actions

On the website: Right-click on a file tab to access the same actions as in the edit menu.

In the app: Long press on a file tab to open the context menu.

Tree layout

As mentioned in the view options section, you can switch to a tree layout for the files list. This layout is ideal for managing many open files, as it displays them in a vertical list on the right side of the map. The file tree view also lets you inspect the tracks, segments, and points of interest contained in files through collapsible sections.

You can apply edit actions and tools to individual items within files. Furthermore, you can drag items to reorder them, move them in the hierarchy, or even move them to another file.

Elevation profile and statistics

At the bottom of the interface, you can find the elevation profile and statistics for the current selection.

Interactive statistics

When hovering over (or tapping on) the elevation profile, a tooltip will show statistics at that position.

To get statistics for a specific section, you can drag a selection rectangle on the profile. Tap or click on the profile to reset the selection.

On the website: Use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out on the elevation profile, and drag the profile while holding Shift to move left and right.

Additional data

Using the button at the bottom-right of the elevation profile, you can optionally color the profile by:

  • Slope – computed from elevation data
  • Surface or category – data from OpenStreetMap’s surface and highway tags. This is only available for files created with gpx.tours.

If your selection includes it, you can also visualize: speed, heart rate, cadence, temperature, and power data on the elevation profile.
